3rd Grade Math Test

Are you looking for a printable resource to assess student mastery of third-grade fraction standards? Teach Starter has a comprehensive and rigorous assessment ready for use in your classroom! This assessment covers the following topics:

  • writing a fraction from a shaded model
  • composing fractions with unit fractions
  • equivalent fractions
  • fraction of a set
  • fractions on a number line
  • comparing fractions

The assessment has 18 questions, 15 multiple choices, and 3 written response questions. There is a student recording sheet. There is an answer key with rationales for correct answers and a standard alignment.

Students should complete the assessment independently to demonstrate mastery of these standards. This would also serve as a great review prior to a 3rd-grade fraction assessment; just edit the title! The recording sheet can be used if desired. Three questions require students to write out their responses, and 15 questions are multiple-choice questions.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

As an extension, challenge students to create their own fraction test and answer key.

If students need additional support, consider reducing the number of questions. Use the key to remove questions based on their standards to ensure you still assess all necessary standards. Additionally, allow students to use fraction manipulatives as needed.
