Build Up Phoneme Blending Skills With These Phoneme Blending Worksheets

This set of additive blending and pyramid blending worksheets have been created to support students on their word blending journey. A set of 12 worksheets that include simple CVC words and harder words with digraphs for students to blend while being guided by the additive blending strategy.

Here’s some information about the contents of these worksheets:

  • Simple CVC words such as: sat, wet, hot included.
  • Three phoneme words that include digraphs such as: chin, shut, chair included.
  • Two types of blending – additive blending and pyramid blending.

Print these pages out and laminate them so they can be used time and time again.

What is Additive Blending?

Additive blending is a phonics strategy that can help children to decode words by blending sounds together. The visuals help students to gradually blend the word together in steps. This strategy is particularly helpful for beginning readers.
