A great matching activity for students to practice their letters and initial sounds.
Use this resource when teaching your students about letters and their sounds.
Print out the picture and letter cards on cardstock for added durability. Cut out each picture card. Add velcro dots to the picture cards and the alphabet mats. Store the mats and picture cards in a resealable bag to be used again and again.
Students will choose a picture card, say the word, and determine the initial sound. Then, they will attach the card to the letter that makes that sound.
This resource works beautifully when used as a guided reading or reading center activity.
Use the drop-down menu to choose between the color or black and white version.
