Need Science Activities for 1st Grade?

You’re in the right place! We’ve been putting together some fantastic resources to guide your instruction surrounding animal features and characteristics.

This Animal Features Vocabulary and Writing Center provides a fun, interactive way to help young students understand more about living things’ body features and characteristics. The set contains 24 vocabulary word/picture cards that students use to identify the different parts of animals and descriptive characteristics of groups of animals. Students can refer to the vocabulary cards while completing the writing prompts in their centers.

A 1st Grade Writing Center & Science Lesson in One!

Display the Animal Characteristics Vocabulary cards on the board or in a pocket chart and discuss them with your students. Once familiar with the vocabulary terms, provide them with one of the included worksheets.

Through this activity, students will increase their vocabulary and build skills in writing sentences with academic language.
