Practice using apostrophes with contractions and possessive nouns in this double-sided worksheet.
Apostrophe Contractions and Possessive Nouns Worksheet
In this worksheet, students will match, choose, combine, and identify words within sentences that need apostrophes. This apostrophe worksheet is best used as part of your punctuation lesson for independent review and practice. It can also be used as a pre-lesson knowledge assessment to see what students already know.
Challenge fast finishers to come up with their own questions for each section of the worksheet. If you have students struggling with the concepts, assign students to work with a partner or take one or two items off each section.
Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students
This worksheet was designed to be printed front and back.
Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to fill out on their own.
You can also make this worksheet more sustainable! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Students can record their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse. Or project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class with students recording their answers in their notebooks.
