Counting Phonemes and Having Fun! Phoneme Segmentation Bingo Boards
This set of bingo cards is an engaging and interactive game for students to practise segmenting and counting phonemes in a variety of 3 – 5 phoneme words.
This bingo game differs slightly from others in that students will place connecting blocks on each square to show their understanding of segmenting the phonemes in the words the caller calls out. In this Bingo game, the teacher provides each of the students a game board; it is easier to play in small groups so you can monitor each student’s understanding.
Students are also provided with several unfix cubes or connecting cubes. Use the game cards to state the word and ask the students to segment the word out loud. Then, they must cover the correct picture with the number of cubes. For example, ‘cheese’ would have 3 cubes for each phoneme ch-ee-se.
