Our Input Output Table Template Has Many Uses

You can turn this input output table template to create many kinds of problems. Here are some examples to spark your creativity!

  • Missing Rule Problems: Fill the input output tables with numbers that fit a patterns and ask the students to identify and write the rule that changes a number in the input column to the output column. For example, “+ 5” or “x 2” 
  • Missing Values Problems: Partially fill in the input output tables with numbers that fit a pattern. Ask students to fill in the missing values that will continue the pattern. Students can also write the rules.
  • Empty Tables Problems: Provide the students with a blank input output tables template that only has a rule written below each table. Students must fill the tables with values that follow the rule. Answers will vary in this more creative task.
