Best Practices for Blending Phonemes? Rule #1: Make It Fun!

This puzzle set uses a picture-based approach to help students practice producing words by blending phonemes.  Students will look at each phoneme, identify the sound and blend the phonemes to complete the puzzle.

This game is a fun and educational way to practice making phoneme blends. This set of directions and 18 picture puzzles will make your classroom experience fun!

Puzzles are included for the following words:

  • Log, book, soap, hat, shark, fish, bus, bug, bike, bake, bath, beach, sheep, dog, pig, lake, tape, and boat.

The picture puzzles allow for multiple uses as an assessment tool, extra practice for reinforcement, or even an enrichment activity for those little ones who are finishing early!

Through this activity, students will enhance their ability to identify phonemes and corresponding sounds, further improving their reading fluency.
