• Celebrations in Spain begin on December 22nd with the National Christmas Lottery. People buy lottery tickets to win the ‘El Gordo’ lottery drawing. The festivities continue until January 6th.
• On Christmas Eve, people attend church and have a parade. Just like children waiting up for Santa, Spanish children have to get to bed early on Christmas Eve to make sure they don’t miss the Wise Men bearing gifts. They leave their best pair of shoes outside their doors to be filled with gifts.
