Do You Really Need a Classroom Reward System? Absolutely!

It is crucial to have a classroom reward system for several reasons.

  1. It provides positive reinforcement, encouraging students to continue working hard and achieving academic success.
  2. It is a motivational tool, boosting student engagement and participation in class activities.
  3. A reward system aids conduct management by setting explicit expectations and encouraging appropriate conduct.
  4. It fosters a growth mindset by recognizing effort and progress. It contributes to a positive classroom culture which makes students feel valued and loved. A good system also reinforces essential values and skills beyond academics and helps develop social and emotional skills.
  5. It improves teacher-student relationships by supplying positive interactions and recognition opportunities.

Spin to Win Table Points! Behavior Spinner Game

If you chose to arrange your classroom into table groups, use this printable spinner game to promote positive group interactions and behavior. First, groups must assign themselves a name that can be written on the Team Points sheet.

As you see the groups working well or interacting positively with each other, you can award their group points. If it is an extraordinary occasion, a group member can spin the pointed spinner to win additional points for their team!

This is an entertaining game to play with your students; they love the opportunity to spin the spinner. For a bit of suspense, students also risk the spinner landing on a chance card, which could win or lose something for their group. There are also some blank chance cards to add in some rewards that are particularly popular in your classroom.

We recommend resetting the points each week and changing up the students in each group every now and again.
