Calculate the Size of the Missing Angle!

If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box activity to provide your 4th graders with practice finding the size of missing angles on right angles, straight angles and angles at a point, then this is the resource for you!

This set of three worksheets has been designed by our experienced teacher team to provide a fun and engaging way for your students to practice calculating the size of the missing angle on a variety of common angle types. Each worksheet contains a hidden picture that has been broken into shapes of various sizes. Within each shape is an equation consisting of a missing angle (angle x). Students must work out the size of angle x in each equation, then use the color key to color the space in which the equation is located the correct color. With around 40-50 equations on each worksheet, your students will be getting ample practice with this fundamental mathematical skill!

An answer key is included with each worksheet so you can easily check if the students have colored the missing picture correctly!

This resource downloads as a PDF. Be sure to remove the answer sheets before printing copies for your students.

Differentiate This Missing Angles Worksheet

These missing angles worksheets have been designed specifically for 4th grade math lessons. While they are suited to students of all abilities, it may be useful for teachers to know that the number of equations does increase with each angle type. The number of equations on each worksheet is as follows:

  • Right angles – 39 equations
  • Straight angles – 56 equations
  • Angles at a point – 61 equations

Equations consist of two, three and four terms.

Students who may become overwhelmed by too many equations should be encouraged to start with the right angles worksheet. Students who are confident mathematicians and enjoy a challenge should be directed toward the angles at a point worksheet.
