Giving Your Students the Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers Practice They Need

Using this converting improper fractions to mixed numbers activity is easy! Just follow the steps below to use this resource whole-class.

  1. Download and print the resource.
  2. Cut the cards out and make as many copies of the recording sheet as you need.
  3. Distribute one recording sheet to every student completing the activity.
  4. Explain to students they will solve the problems on the task cards and write the answers in the corresponding space on their recording sheet.
  5. Place the task cards around the room or provide one or two to each student to get started. If you’re doing a “scoot” activity, students will move from card to card.
  6. Once students have solved the problem, they switch cards with another student or “scoot” to the next spot in the room.

Note: Cards 15 and 17 will require students to simplify, so you may want to give them a heads-up!
