Fun Capacity Conversion Activity Ideas

This converting capacity worksheet set is fantastic for independent practice, homework, or review. But don’t forget to add in some fun, hands-on capacity conversion activities as well! Here are some ideas: 

Capacity Estimation Challenge: Display various containers and have students estimate their capacities in milliliters, liters, or kiloliters. After recording their estimates, students measure the actual capacities and calculate the difference.

Cooking With Capacity: Bring in simple recipes that require liquid measurements. Have students measure ingredients and convert them between milliliters and liters as they follow the recipe. 

Capacity Conversion Challenge: Give groups of students a large pitcher or tank. Then give the teams a challenge, such as  “Fill your pitcher to exactly 4 liters using only 500 mL measuring cups.”
