Ordered Pair Games for Engagement
Our coordinate plane escape room isn’t the only way to get your students excited about coordinate grids! There are many ordered pair games that can enhance a coordinate plane unit. Gamifying your math lessons aids student retention and engagement, so break out the fun whenever possible! Here are some other game ideas you can try:
- Battleship: An obvious choice and a fan favorite. We have linked our version below!
- Coordinate Plane Treasure Hunt: Create a treasure map on a coordinate grid. Students follow coordinates to find hidden treasures around the room or the school.
- Coordinate Relay Race: Set up a large coordinate grid with chalk on the playground. Divide students into teams. One student from each team runs to a given coordinate, touches it, and returns to tag the next teammate—the first team to finish wins!
