A Set of Editing Sentences 3rd Grade Worksheets

Editing is a valuable skill for our students to learn. It teaches them to look at texts with a critical eye, a skill that can be transferred to their own writing.

These editing sentence worksheets for 3rd grade have been designed to give your students practice identifying and fixing errors in simple sentences. Each worksheet contains two separate activities:

  1. Students read the sentences, then rewrite them correctly on the line provided.
  2. Students identify whether the sentences provided are correct or need fixing. If they need fixing, students update the sentences accordingly.

This set of editing sentences 3rd grade worksheets cover the following concepts:

  • Capitalization
  • Verb tense
  • Comparative and superlative adjectives
  • Punctuation
  • Plural nouns

These editing sentences worksheets for 3rd grade download as an easy-print PDF or an editable Google Slides file. Answers are included in both file options.

Multiple Uses for These Editing Sentences 3rd Grade Worksheets

These editing sentences worksheets can be used in multiple ways in your grammar lessons. Here are a few ideas from our teacher team:

  • Whole-Class Warm-Up – Choose a worksheet to project onto your interactive whiteboard as a whole-class lesson warm-up at the beginning of your grammar lesson. This allows for editing skills to be reinforced on a daily basis.
  • Group Rotations – Place a few copies of each worksheet at different stations around the room and have students cycle through the rotations. The worksheets can be placed inside reusable sleeves and wiped clean after each new group arrives.
  • Assessment Tool – These worksheets offer multiple options for assessing your students’ knowledge. Choose the worksheet that best suits the content you want to assess and have students complete it independently.
