A Set of Editing Worksheets for 4th Grade

Bring practical editing skills to your classroom with these engaging and effective worksheets that align with key 4th-grade language standards.

This set of five editing worksheets for 4th grade has been designed to give your students practice in a variety of key editing skills.

Each editing worksheet contains the following activities:

• Incomplete Sentences – Students correct the incomplete sentences in the passage by fixing any punctuation errors and adding any missing punctuation.
• Spelling and Punctuation – Students correct the spelling errors and punctuation errors within the passage.
• Adjectives and Verbs – Students identify the adjectives and verbs from the selection of words provided.

It is recommended that students use a colored pen or highlighter to indicate the changes needed in the passages. Alternatively, they could rewrite the entire passage correctly in their notebooks.

Here are some ideas as to how you might differentiate these editing worksheets for 4th grade to more effectively meet the needs of your learners:

• Support Less Confident Students – Consider assigning specific sections of the editing worksheets to students based on their individual needs. Some may focus on sentence completion while others work on the grammar portion. 
• Extend More Confident Students – Consider adding an extension task where more confident students rewrite the edited passages using more descriptive language or create their own passages for peer editing.
