Get your students to research an endangered species using this easy-to-compile flipbook scaffold.
Create an Endangered Species Research Flipbook
According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, over 16,300 species are believed to be endangered. This is a truly horrific number!
This flipbook has been created by our expert teacher team to guide your students in researching an endangered species of their choice. Each page contains a particular focus on the endangered species for the students to explore. These are:
- Introduction
- Description
- Food Web
- Habitat Loss
- Food and Water Shortages
- Environmental Changes
- Climate Change
Each page contains tables for students to record the information they have researched.
Once the students have completed the flipbook, they can share their work with a partner or with another class. Alternatively, display the students’ work in a prominent place in the classroom to allow others to learn about some of the world’s most vulnerable plants and animals.
Implement This Endangered Species Research Project with Your Students
It is vital that our students understand the importance of taking action to ensure the survival of all species in an ever-changing world. The flipbook perfectly complements this sentiment by shining a spotlight on species in crisis.
Here is one suggested method for implementing this endangered species research task with your students:
- Brainstorm Potential Species – As a class, brainstorm some potential species that could be researched. Should your students need some help with this, Teach Starter has a set of critically endangered species task cards that will provide plenty of inspiration!
- Research the Topic – Provide students with the opportunity to research their chosen species. Have them use trustworthy, age-appropriate websites to help them gather information for each page of the flipbook.
- Flipbook Completion – Have the students use the information they have gathered to complete their flipbooks. Be sure to provide them with the opportunity to share their finished products!
