Model Equivalent Fractions

When students first learn to work with equivalent fractions, using fraction models can be particularly important. Students need to physically see how the amount of the model that is shaded can be the same even though there are different numbers of pieces. Students learn to recognize that if the piece size is smaller, they will need more pieces to cover the same amount of the figure.

Teach Starter has designed a set of 3 worksheets to help your students visualize and calculate equivalent fractions. With this downloadable teaching resource, you will be able to guide your students’ understanding of equivalent fractions with

  • Fraction strips
  • Fraction circles
  • Number lines

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!
