This 15-slide teaching presentation will help you explain the purpose, structural elements and language features of procedural writing to your students. Using This Procedural Writing Slide Deck in Your Classroom
This slide deck is an excellent starting point for teaching your students about the purpose, structural elements and language features of procedural writing. Due to the amount of information in the presentation, we recommend covering the content over several lessons.
Here are some additional activities you might like to consider in conjunction with this procedural writing slide deck:
- Role-Playing – Students could role-play the “ How to Brush Your Teeth” procedural texts featured in the slide deck. This activity will help them visualize the separate steps in the process.
- Cooking Day – Students could follow the “How to Make a Cheese Sandwich” procedural text feature in the slide deck to actually make a cheese sandwich! This activity will help them understand the importance of clear and precise instructions when writing procedures.
- Storyboarding – Students could create a storyboard for the “How to Build a Snowman” procedural text featured in the slide deck. This activity will help them understand the importance that accompanying visuals play in procedural texts.
