A set of eight farm animal cards with matching animal sound cards.
Use this teaching resource as a fun literacy warm up activity or a group activity during Literacy Rotations.
Print the farm animal and animal sound word cards on cardstock and cut them out. Store them in a resealable bag to be used over and over.
These cards can be used in a variety of ways, including:
- as a back-to-school icebreaker activity – give half of the students an animal card and the other half of the students a sound card. Have students walk around and look for their match. Then, have them introduce their partner to the class.
- as a random partner generator – give half of the students an animal card and the other half of the students a sound card. When they find a match, they have their partner.
- as a memory game – using a small number of cards, lay them facedown in a grid. Students turn over two cards. If they match (animal and sound) they keep the cards. If not, they flip them back over. This can be played individually, with a partner or small group, or as a whole class.
