Encourage students to engage with different classmates and learn about others with this whole-class activity.
Find Someone Who Game
Getting students to step outside of their comfort zone and make new friends may not be as easy as it sounds. If you are looking for a simple and quick way for all of your students to meet other classmates, look no further! Teach Starter has designed a differentiated activity that can be used at the beginning of the school year or any time when you want your students to engage with different students in the classroom.
This resource has two different versions of the activity. The first version has 9 boxes for students to fill out and utilizing primary writing lines. The second version has 12 boxes for students to complete.
Students are to walk around the room and ask different classmates which box they match with. The student will need to write the name down in the box they match with or have the student write their own name.
Students will try to find a classmate who:
- Has a sister
- Likes to play hide and seek
- Can do a cartwheel
- Has more than one pet
And many more!
The purpose of this resource is to give students an opportunity to engage with different students in the classroom and learn about others.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:
🆘 Support Struggling Students
Allow students to work with a peer. Allow the student to work on the worksheet that asks for only 9 boxes to be completed. Allow the student to complete half of the boxes and allow them to complete the worksheet another time.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
Allow students to work on the worksheet that challenges students to find 12 different students for 12 different boxes instead of the 9-box worksheet.
