A Fun Adding and Subtracting Fractions Game
If you’re tired of using the same old fractions worksheets year after year, try this fun adding and subtracting fractions game, which will keep your students engaged until the bell rings!
This fractions board game has been designed by our expert team of teachers to allow your students to practice adding and subtracting fractions collaboratively and interactively.
Here’s a quick overview of how to play (a more detailed version can be found within the resource download):
- Place counters on the ‘Start’ square. The youngest player goes first.
- Roll the dice and move your counter the correct number of spaces.
- Follow the instructions of the square you land on. Many squares require the player to solve an addition or subtraction algorithm with fractions.
- Continue to move your counters around the game board, following the instructions on whatever square you land on.
- The first person to land on the ‘Finish’ square is the winner. (Note: You must roll the exact number needed to land on this square. If you do not, you must wait for your next turn to try again.)
Answers to the equations are written upside-down at the bottom of the instruction page.
