Halloween Writing Lessons are in the (Treat) Bag

Do you have a group of struggling writers this year? We know the feeling. It is difficult for young writers to plan out a story that makes sense, follows a sequential order, and contains all of the elements that a narrative story needs. We’re here to help you do that with a fun Halloween activity scaffolded to support writers on their journey to a spooky tale.

This scaffolded group of organizers takes students on the planning journey for writing a creepy story. Students are provided with graphic organizers to help them plan and describe

  • The characters in a story
  • The setting in a story
  • The problem in a story
  • The solution in a story

Completing the first four planning project sheets guarantees that students will have the material and ideas to write a story from beginning to end. It is the perfect way to build narrative writing skills with struggling writers, ESL students, and unmotivated writers.
