Brighten Up Your Year With a 3-D Lightbulb Project – Elementary Style!

This student goal-setting craftivity is best used as a beginning-of-year social-emotional learning lesson. Encourage your students to set attainable goals and begin their new school year with a fun lightbulb-themed goal-setting craft.

With this template, students will identify their top goals for the new school year and write about them. Then they will create an awesome 3-D Lightbulb to highlight how they plan to have a ‘BRIGHT’ year!

Create a Fun Back-to-School Display for Your Ceiling!

We have created two easy-to-use templates to create this display, depending on how much room you have to display student work. In your download, you will find a full-page version of the template as well as a modified version that uses less paper and takes up a smaller amount of space. Use this activity to create an amazing back-to-school classroom display by threading a piece of twine or yarn up through the center of the 3D lightbulb and hanging it from your ceiling.

To create your 3-D goal-setting lightbulbs, students will

  1. Complete the writing prompts on each light bulb template.
  2. Cut out the templates and fold each in half vertically.
  3. Open up the lightbulb and glue one half of the back to one half of the back of another lightbulb.
  4. Repeat with the other templates to complete your 3D light bulb!
  5. Thread string or twine up through the center of the 3D bulb and hang from your ceiling!

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students

This low-prep resource only requires you to make copies for your students. Provide them with copies of the templates, pencils, crayons, and glue to complete the assembly of the craftivity.
