A set of 18 daily events for students to sort based on how long they take (second, minute, hour).
Use this hands-on sorting activity for students to demonstrate their understanding of events that take a second, a minute, and an hour.
Print the time and event cards on cardstock and cut them out. Then have your students sort the events based on how long they each take.
Note that there is no one “correct” answer as to how these events should be sorted. It is more important that students justify their thinking when sharing their groupings, e.g. one child might say that it takes seconds to eat a snack while another child might say that it takes minutes.
This resource is great when used as a math center activity.
