Alphabet Initial Sound Recognition Worksheets Coloring Set
This set of worksheets has been created by an experienced teacher and can be used during your literacy rotations to teach letter recognition and beginning sounds to early learners. Before attempting each worksheet, ensure the students are familiar with the name of the letter, as well as the sound (or sounds) that it makes. Students then colour the pictures on the worksheet that begin with that particular sound.
Note: The Letter X worksheet focuses on the end sound, rather than the initial sound.
Beginning Letter Sounds Worksheets in the Classroom
This resource offers both lowercase and uppercase versions of each letter, supporting students as they develop a solid understanding of grapheme-phoneme correspondence. By the time students are demonstrating familiarity with letter sounds, they should also recognize both uppercase and lowercase forms of each letter. These worksheets can double as an engaging alphabet display in the classroom or be added to student workbooks for ongoing reference and practice.
