A worksheet to practice beginning sounds.

Use this worksheet when teaching students about initial sounds in words.

Students will decode a series of words, identify the initial sound they have in common, and produce another word that shares the same beginning sound, e.g., bed, bad, _____.

This resource can be used as independent practice after a lesson or together as a whole-class activity in the middle of a lesson. Simply project the worksheet on the dry-erase board and work through the questions together.

Looking for a more interactive way to use the resource? Why not print it out, cut out the questions, and spread the questions around the room. Then, have student pairs rotate through the questions, decoding the words and creating a third word with the same initial sound.

Use the drop-down menu to choose between the PDF or Google slides version.
