A comprehension task to use when learning about Jessica Watson.
This teaching resource profiles Australian woman Jessica Watson.
In 2010, Jessica Watson became the youngest person to sail, solo and unassisted, around the world. After reading an informational passage in this two-page worksheet, students will practice word recognition and decode unknown words and phrases through context clues. The passage is followed by four questions designed to demonstrate students’ understanding of the reading.
In addition to using this resource to introduce an inspiring figure for Women’s History Month or International Women’s Day, this can be used as a reading center activity, whole-class activity, and more.
