Learn how to use the standard algorithm for division when dividing by double-digit divisors with this mini-book.
Long Division with 2-Digit Divisors
Are your students beginning to explore the concept of dividing whole numbers with multi-digit divisors? While the standard algorithm is the same (divide, multiply, subtract, bring down), students often need additional practice with larger divisors. Teach Starter has created a mini-book that will walk your students through the process of dividing larger numbers.
To complete this mini-book, students must complete and color the pages. There are 12 half-size pages of notes and examples. There are 2 versions, one completely filled in and one with fill-in-the-blank notes.
This activity aims to provide a resource for students to keep as a reference during division units. It is intended to be a good set of notes, as well as examples and practice problems.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your math lessons.
In addition to individual student work time, use this mini-book to enhance learning through guided math groups, whole class lessons, or remote learning assignments.
If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:
🆘 Support Struggling Students
If there are students who need additional support, provide the completed version, stopping after each page or two to allow students to digest information and practice. If needed, provide students with a multiplication chart to help with basic math facts.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
For students who need a bit of a challenge, ask higher-level questions during the creation of the notes (such as does division always result in a quotient less than the dividend?) Edit the numbers to make them more challenging, and ask students to create their own mini-book explaining division.
