Non-Standard Measurement Activities You’ll Treasure!
Are you on the hunt for new and engaging resources to help you introduce your little learners to non-standard measurement concepts? If so, we’ve got one that you’re sure to ‘treasure’ for years to come!
This engaging activity is designed to get your students up, moving, and measuring using non-standard units through a scavenger hunt-style activity. With this resource, your students are tasked with searching the classroom, playground, or other learning space for objects that match the lengths shown.
Students will use a variety of hands-on manipulatives as units of measurement, such as
- Paper clips
- Dice
- Blocks
- Pencils
- Binder clips
- Counters
- Glue sticks
- Markers
Teacher Tip! We recommend gathering the measurement materials for individual students or small groups of students prior to your lesson. Simply gather up the number of objects needed on each sheet and place them in a zipper bag. When ready, hand out your worksheets and student material baggies and you’re ready to go!
