On the back of this worksheet, have students write 5 of their own sentence examples with the correct ways to use “a,” “an,” and “the.”
Scaffolding for Struggling Students
Allow students to use a visual reminder showing examples of the grammar rules in use for article adjectives. Ex: “a car,” “an ant,” “the sun.”
As a small group activity, ask students to place the word squares into the sentences, then check their work before pasting them into place.
Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students
Because this download includes the answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheets for students to fill out on their own.
You can also make this worksheet more sustainable by adding it to your classroom writing center! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Instead of cutting and pasting, students can write their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse.
