Order Numbers With Our Number Hunt Activity

Our missing number hunt activity is a fun way to teach and reinforce students’ skills in ordering numbers to 120 while getting them moving! This “scoot” activity has students traveling around the room to locate cards that present a problem with a missing number.

Included in our number hunt activity:

  • Student instructions
  • 18 dog-themed missing number cards (Numbers 1 to 20)
  • 24 cat-themed missing number cards (Numbers 21 to 120)
  • Numbers 1 – 20 answer sheet
  • Numbers 21 – 120 answer sheet

We suggest printing the cards on cardstock and then laminating them for longevity.

Differentiate With This Missing Number Activity

This missing number activity is two resources in one! With two different card sets, you can decide what your students are ready for. Beginning mathematicians can hunt for numbers 1 – 20, and more advanced students can find numbers from 21 – 120.

Number Hunt Activity Instructions:

  1. Print and cut apart the card set you would like to use, and also print a corresponding answer sheet for each student.
  2. Hang the cards randomly around the room but in easily found areas.
  3. Instruct pairs to find a card to start with.
  4. Student pairs travel to a card and write the missing number in the corresponding square on their answer sheet.
  5. Say, “Scoot!” Student pairs “scoot” to a new card to hunt their next number.
  6. Continue until students have filled out their answer sheets.
