Find the Missing Number in the Subtraction Problem

If you’re working on subtraction and your students are struggling, we can help you get them back on track with some explicit and strategic practice activities. They need experience with different subtraction strategies to help them grasp the concept, and we’ve got the perfect resources!

Fill In the Missing Numbers with a Roll of the Dice

Use this teaching resource when studying or reviewing subtraction strategies.

Students will need a 10-sided die to complete this activity. The goal is for students to find their way from the house to the playground. Once each equation is complete, the square is colored to create the path. Students will check their answers by writing the inverse addition equation underneath each subtraction problem.

This worksheet can be completed individually or with a partner. If playing with a partner, each player will need to use a different colored pencil to shade their squares.

An answer sheet is included.
