How to Teach Spelling…That is the Question

As teachers, we understand the importance of helping children build strong foundational skills in spelling, which is a critical component of effective communication and academic success. But the question lies in how to teach those skills. Everyone has a different opinion, and there is so much information out there that it is hard for you to sift through and even harder for your students to understand. That’s where our Spelling Strategy posters come in!

Our set of posters features clear and concise strategies that kids can use to improve their spelling abilities. These strategies are based on years of research and experience in the field of education and have been designed to be easy to understand and implement.

Each poster focuses on a specific spelling strategy, such as sounding out words, breaking words into syllables, using prefixes and suffixes, and more. The colorful and engaging visuals will capture your child’s attention and make learning spelling strategies a fun and enjoyable experience.

It’s All About Spelling Strategies!

The strategies include:

  • Breaking Words into Syllables
  • Using known blends to spell unknown words
  • Using knowledge of rhyming words to spell unknown words.
  • Finding smaller words within words and using them to spell.
  • Asking for help
  • Referring to Word Walls or classroom displays
  • Referencing a dictionary
  • Using beginning, middle, and end sounds
  • Using knowledge of prefixes and suffixes and applying them to unknown words
  • Writing down an unknown word and determining if it looks correct.
