Use this creative art activity when commemorating Memorial Day or Veterans Day in the classroom.
This creative craft activity has been designed to complement learning about Memorial Day in May each year or Veterans Day in November.
Using the printable templates in the activity, students create a mosaic poppy with scissors, glue, pencils, and a card.
This teaching resource includes:
- instructions for students
- poppy template
- 3 black-patterned grids
- 6 red-patterned grids
The poppy is typically a symbol of those who have died in service to the country and is typically used by veterans organizations around Memorial Day to honor their sacrifice.
Veterans Day is commemorated on November 11 each year as a way to honor those who have served our country or are currently serving in the US armed forces, while Memorial Day marks those who served and have died.
