Help your students understand the relationship between repeated addition and multiplication with this interactive picture reveal.
What Does Repeated Addition Mean?
A wonderful way to help children grasp the connection between addition and multiplication is through the method of repeated addition. This involves adding the same number repeatedly to solve multiplication problems or gain a deeper understanding of how multiplication operates. Let’s take an example: 3×4. This means we want to discover the sum when we add 3 groups of 4 together, which is 4 + 4 + 4, which equals 12.
Digital Multiplication Fun for the Classroom
Teach Starter has created an interactive picture reveal to help students make the connection between repeated addition sentences and multiplication expressions. This teacher-created resource includes 20 questions where students will match addition and multiplication expressions.
To complete this activity, guide students to use the “Slideshow” mode and click on the correct answer. If students choose the correct answer, they will advance to the next question. If the incorrect answer is chosen, students will return to the question and be asked to try again. As students correctly answer each question, one piece of the mystery picture will disappear. The picture will be revealed when all of the questions have been answered.
