✖️➗ Practice Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100 with a Competitive Board Game

Get your students excited about learning to multiply and divide by 10 and 100 with this fun, engaging game! Students will practice multiplying and dividing 3-, 4-, and 5-digit numbers by 10 and 100 as they make their way around a gameboard.

To play, each player will roll the die, move a matching number of spaces, and follow the instructions found on the square they land on. If the answer is correct, the player stays on the square. If they are incorrect, the player must return to their previous square. Whoever gets to the end of the board first is the winner!

More Ways to Play with the Playing Cards

🛴Scoot Activity

Place the playing cards around the room and number each one. give each student a recording sheet. Assign each student a number to start and give them a piece of paper to record their answers. Give students an appropriate amount of time to mentally work the problem and write down the answer, then say, “SCOOT.” At this time, the students will rotate to the next card. Continue in this manner until students have made it through all of the cards.

🚪Exit Activity

After you go through your lesson, pass out cards to students as a math problem they will answer on their own. Provide them with their own sticky note so that they can turn in their answer as a formative assessment, making sure to write their name on the sticky note (or use our Sticky Note Printing Guide + Template). 

🪞Mirror Game

This activity is a spin on the classic “Newlywed Game” and works best with small groups because you’ll need enough dry erase boards and markers for each student. Divide the students into 2 groups, and have the students sit down in 2 lines facing each other. Use your smartboard or projector to show one of the problem cards and give students an appropriate amount of time to solve the problem. On your cue (for example, you say “Ready, Set, Go!”) the students turn their boards around so their partner can see their answer. If both students in a pair have the correct answer, they get 2 points. If one has the correct answer, the team gets 1 point.

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students

Print on cardstock for added durability and longevity. Print the question cards and their associated label (multiply or divide) front and back so that the label is on one side and the question is on the back.

Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.
