Some problems require students to multiply a whole number by a decimal, whereas others challenge students to multiply 2 multi-digit decimals together. These decimal multiplication word problem task cards can be used in multiple ways in your classroom. You might like to use them in the following ways:
- Math Centers – Create math centers in your classroom. At one of these stations, place the task cards and some recording sheets in a dry erase sleeve. Encourage students to work through the cards at their own place.
- Group Challenge – Divide the class into mixed-ability teams. Project the task cards onto your interactive whiteboard, one at a time. Have the students work together as a group to calculate the answer to each division question.
- Exit Tickets – Use these cards as a formative assessment or exit ticket after your lesson on decimal multiplication. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can record their answers on a sheet of paper, sticky note or their notebook.
