What to Do On National Dot Day…That is the Question

On International Dot Day, people worldwide participate in various activities that promote creativity, collaboration, and self-expression. On this day, students and adults alike are encouraged to “make their mark” by creating and sharing their dots, which can take the form of drawings, paintings, collages, digital art, or any other medium of artistic expression.

You can incorporate Dot Day activities into your lesson plans, focusing on themes like art, creativity, courage, and self-discovery. You might read “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds to your students, engage in art projects, and facilitate discussions about embracing one’s unique abilities and finding inspiration in simple beginnings.

Step Outside the Box With a Printable Dot Book for Kindergarten!

Step outside the box (or circle) this year and do something different to help your younger students celebrate their creativity while retaining your sanity! If paint and glitter aren’t your cup of tea, try making your own Dot Book with your students.

This printable book allows your students to use creativity to turn a simple dot into a fun drawing. Each page guides your students to turn the dot into a specific object using an easy-to-read sentence. We’ve also included an opportunity for your students to work on letter formation skills by including a word or words to trace to complete the sentence.

Download Your Easy Dot Art Activity!

You’re just a click away from getting your new resources! Use the download button to download the printable PDF resource file. To assemble

  1. Print each student a copy of the three pages, front to back.
  2. Cut the pages in half horizontally, and fold each piece in half.
  3. Using the folded section of the front and back cover, insert the other folded pieces inside the cover and staple them.
    • Note: The pages printed on the second sheet of paper will be folded so that the text is on the outside. They will also be inserted into the booklet in the opposite direction.
  4. Once students complete their drawings and tracing, have them colour their special book and share it with a friend!
