Show Your ♥️ on International Sloth Day 2023
Did you know that sloths have their own holiday? It’s true! And for a good reason! International Sloth Day will be celebrated this year on Friday, October 20, 2023. What is this weird holiday all about?
Sloths are adorable and extremely unique. But did you know that many species of sloth are at risk of extinction? That’s why AIUNAU, a non-profit foundation dedicated to protecting all forms of wildlife, created International Sloth Day in November 2010 as a way to help people get to know these shy creatures better. Use this event to teach your students about endangered animals and how they can help protect this special creature on International Sloth Day.
✂️ Crafts with Paper Plates Build Scissor Skills!
This template makes for a bonus cutting skills activity, depending on your students’ ages and abilities.
With adult supervision, cutting skills help students work multiple muscle groups and their brains, plus:
- strengthen finger and hand muscles
- build dexterity and fine motor skills
- improve hand-eye coordination
- develop focus and attention.
And all of these skills are necessary to use a pencil and a fork; button a shirt and tie shoes; write, type and swipe.
Scissor skills are brain and muscle skills!
