Differentiated Number Pattern Worksheets for Grade 1 

Introduce your students to early algebraic concepts with this engaging set of number pattern worksheets for Grade 1! Designed to build pattern recognition and provide skip-counting practice, these worksheets offer multiple problems in a fun and structured way. Teachers can choose between two versions based on their class’s needs, and answer keys are included for easy grading.

Worksheet A includes the following activities:

  • Transforming shape patterns into number patterns
  • Completing number sequences by counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s
  • Finding the “rule” of each of the finished number sequences 

Worksheet B includes the following activities:

  1. Completing number sequences by counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s
  2. Finding the “rule” of each of the finished number sequences 
  3. Looking at a robot’s inputs and outputs to determine a rule 

Using This Number Pattern Worksheet Set

Our number pattern worksheet set has many classroom uses. Here are a few to get you started!

  • Differentiation: With two different versions of this activity, you can choose which worksheet works best for which students. With its shape patterns, Worksheet A may be better for beginning learners, while the “Rule Robot” on Worksheet B might challenge more proficient students. 
  • Exit Ticket: Cut the number pattern worksheets for Grade 1 in half and use the half of your choice as a short exit ticket to gauge student progress in identifying and extending patterns. 
  • Challenge Activity: Once students complete the number patterns on the top of Worksheet A or the bottom of Worksheet B, use them as examples for students to create their own number patterns. 

You could also use these number pattern worksheets for Grade 1 as a formative or summative assessment to monitor progress.
