Practice searching for and decoding onset and rime words with this set of search and find worksheets.
Can You Find the Onset and Rime
This set of search and find worksheets are ideal to include into your phonics lesson planning as an individual or group activity. There is a search and find worksheet for each of the following rimes:
- an, at, ap
- ed, et, en
- Ig, in, it
- op, og, ot
- un, ug, ut
In each of the worksheets, students are asked to read and find each of the words featured on the worksheet and then circle or color the pictures and mark of the words as they go. Students are having fun searching through the images, they don’t even realize they are practicing the decoding skills with some of the main onset and rime groups of words.
Search and Find Worksheets
The best thing about this set of worksheets is that they are versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. If your students are only ready for one onset and rime pattern, and would be too overwhelmed doing many of these all at once, only provide them with one worksheet at a time. Alternatively, you could create a mini search and find booklet for those students that are ready to move ahead with all of these onset and rime word patterns.
