Use these task cards to allow students to practice ordering images of seasonal changes across the year.
Order of Seasons Hands-On Activity
Perfect for individual learning time or a small group station, these order of seasons task cards are a great way for students to learn and remember the order in which the seasons occur.
To play, students place the sorting mats in their correct order on a surface, and sort the clue cards into four groups: summer, autumn, winder and spring.
Through this activity, students will show their understanding of seasonal characteristics, and the order of the seasons.
How to Use Seasons Task Cards
A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your Science lessons, and we’ve come up with some additional great ways to make the most of your resource:
🛴 Scoot Activity
Place the clue cards around the room in numerical order and give each student a copy of a sorting mat (perhaps print these ones in black and white). Assign students to a starting point card. Give students time to review the card and determine if the clue card matches their season. If so, they write the description and draw a picture on their mat. Students will rotate to the next card when you say, “SCOOT!” Continue in this manner until students return to their starting point.
👋 Exit Ticket
Use these cards as a formative assessment after your lesson. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can write down the correct season to match the clue card on a sheet of paper, sticky note or notebook.

If using this resource as a hands-on sorting game, print on cardboard for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.
To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks 😂, punch a hole in the corner of each to place them on a binder ring.
