Why Use Escape Rooms?

Students of all ages love learning with escape rooms, and many educators love them as well! But do they deserve a place in your lesson planner? We think so! Here are some of the many reasons why:

  • Engagement: The gamified and interactive nature of escape rooms grabs students’ attention and is often a welcome change to the traditional classroom setting.
  • Cooperation: Escape rooms promote cooperation and collaboration among group members as they work together to crack the code.
  • Problem-Solving: Students often need to think critically or solve puzzles to progress, promoting problem-solving skills.

And best of all— with Teach Starter they are easy to prepare!

Instructions:

  1. Print the “Escape the Robot Invasion Workbook” front to back and give each student a copy. Fold the book in the middle.
  2. Group three or four students together, and give each group digital access to the Google Slides or PowerPoint version of the escape room. Make sure it is in EDIT mode so students can manipulate the pieces.
  3. Students work together, using a combination of the presentation and their workbooks to solve each mission.
  4. Once all missions are solved, students transfer the code numbers to the back of their workbook, and use the answer key to check their solution.
