Engage your students with this parallel and perpendicular lines activity that encourages cooperation and problem solving to escape!
Escape an Amusement Park Lockdown in This Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Activity
Get ready for an exciting and interactive learning experience with The Amusement Park Lockdown! In this engaging digital escape room, students will embark on a thrilling adventure to escape an amusement park that has been mysteriously locked down. They will need to solve a series of tasks based on identifying parallel and perpendicular lines in both 2D and 3D shapes to collect codes and unlock the way out. This parallel and perpendicular lines activity is designed to make learning fun and challenging, while reinforcing essential geometry concepts.
Tasks include:
- Identifying parallel and perpendicular lines in real-world pictures
- Answering true or false questions about line types in 2D shapes
- Completing a maze by determining the number of parallel or perpendicular lines in 2D shapes
- Answering multiple-choice questions about parallel and perpendicular faces in 3D shapes
- Drawing 2D shapes and answering questions about the line types present in their drawings
An included student workbook allows learners to document their work and track progress. As they complete each task the next code is revealed, unlocking the next section and bringing them closer to their escape. This parallel and perpendicular lines activity will help your students practice geometry while having fun solving puzzles!
Using This Perpendicular and Parallel Lines Activity
All it takes is a little prep work to bring this perpendicular and parallel lines activity to life in your classroom. Follow these steps to get your students practicing line types in no time:
- Download the escape room and the student workbook in the formats of your choice.
- Print and provide each student a copy of the student workbook to assemble in the correct order.
- Ensure students have access to the escape room, whether this means providing each group with a device to view the slideshow or displaying it to the entire class.
- Put the escape room in “slideshow” mode.
- Instruct students to read each slide and follow the instructions there and in their workbooks. All work should be completed in their workbooks.
- If students complete this parallel and perpendicular lines activity, a congratulatory message will appear! Collect the student workbooks as evidence of student understanding or struggle.
