🏈Engage and Excite Sports Fans with Football Math Games!

Excite the young football fans in your classroom with a fun game of multiplication football!

Build the goalposts, make a paper football, and play a fast-paced game of football to practice multiplication facts, and score all of the (math) goals with this new multiplication game for kids. These activities are designed to make learning math fun and engaging for students who love the sport.

This resource consists of a STEM Project and a Math Game!

  • Part 1 of the activity is a STEM challenge asking students to build a set of goalposts given size requirements and a set of materials. Then students will make a paper football to use during the game. Once students have set up their “football field” with their partners, they play the card game.
  • Part 2 of the project is to play the card game. Students flip over a domino, count the dots on each side of the domino and multiply those two numbers. Students race to say the product aloud first to earn chances to kick a field goal. Play continues until the dominoes are gone, and students complete the directions in the game to determine the winner.

By completing this activity, students demonstrate an ability to multiply and divide within 100.

To Prepare Your Penalty Kick Game

Provide your students with cardstock, tape, glue, and other recyclable materials during the activity’s STEM portion. Once complete, students need their goalposts, paper football, and a set of football dominoes to play the game.
