Welcome Winter! – Word Families for Kindergarten

These little penguins are freezing! They’ve spent way too much time in the water, and they are desperate to get onto dry land and cuddle to warm up. We’ve got a flock of chilly word family penguins waiting for your students to help them out!

These little penguins are not just here to waddle around and look cute—they’re also here to help your students practice reading and rhyming words!

To return the penguins to the dry land, your students will have to say the name of the image seen on each penguin, then click and drag to match them to the correct ice floe.

Winter Word Family Rhyming Game

Turn this Google Interactive activity into a whole-class rhyming word game by projecting it and having students work as teams to match the penguins to their word families. Then, students could write additional words that use the same rime as those seen on the penguins for extra points!
