Percent of a Number Worksheet

Are there real-life situations where students will need to know how to calculate the percent of a number? Absolutely! Whether it is calculating discounts or determining how much to leave as a tip at a restaurant, percentages are an important concept to learn. Teach Starter has created a worksheet for you to use with your students when learning how to find the percent of a whole number.

With this worksheet, students will determine the percentage of a whole number. Additionally, students will use their problem-solving skills to apply this knowledge to solve a variety of word problems.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!  

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding 

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

For students who need a bit of a challenge, ask them to create 4 word problems involving percentages over 100%. Encourage them to solve and state their observations.

If there are students who need a bit of support, consider using visual methods, such as a strip or tape diagram, to model how to find the percentage of a whole number.
