A Perpendicular and Parallel Lines Activity Your Students Won’t Get “Board” Of!

Looking for an engaging and educational resource to help students master the concepts of parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines? This board game is the perfect tool! This printable perpendicular and parallel lines activity includes a variety of question types—true/false, multiple choice, and free-answer—designed to challenge and reinforce students’ understanding of these key geometric concepts. From identifying pairs of lines on 2D and 3D shapes to spotting parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines in the real world, this activity is both fun and educational. Ideal for classrooms or at-home learning, this resource will keep students engaged while they develop critical geometry skills.

Included in this perpendicular and parallel lines activity:

  • Game board
  • 36 question cards
  • Number cube template
  • Game pieces
  • Recording sheet
  • Answer key

This board game works especially well as a math center or guided practice activity. We recommend printing this perpendicular and parallel lines activity on cardstock and then laminating the pieces for longevity.

Preparing and Playing Our Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Game

This parallel and perpendicular lines game is easy to play! Here are the steps to get your students learning:

  1. Print the resource and cut out the game cards and any other pieces you may need.
  2. Give each group a game board, a set of game cards, and a number cube.
  3. Have each player select a game piece and place it at the starting line. The person with the shortest first name goes first.
  4. Player 1 rolls the die and moves forward the appropriate number of spaces.
  5. Players should follow any directions on the space they land on. If a player lands on a space that has a picture, they draw a card and answer the question. The next player in line should check the answer key to see if the answer is correct.
  6. If the player is correct, they may stay in their space. If the player is incorrect, they must return to their previous space.
  7. The first player to the finish line wins!
