OREO Opinion Writing Frame – Opinion Writing for Beginners

OREO is a useful mnemonic device that can help writers remember the paragraph structure for persuasive or opinion writing tasks.

Opinion: Students state their opinion on the topic.

Reason: Students give reason(s) to support their topic.

Evidence Students give evidence from the text to support their opinion.

Opinion: Finally, they restate their opinion as a conclusion.

Help your students plan, draft and revise their writing in a way that will help them develop their own unique voice – the OREO Opinion Writing Frame! This simple writing frame is designed to be used with any prompt in a whole class or an individual setting.
